Abstract The present document discusses the development of a new trowelable Thermal Protection System (TPS), able being mixed, applied and cured directly onto vehicle structure, with aim to fulfill requirements thermal properties for re-usable launch studied in Retro Propulsion Landing Technology (RETALT) project. During this TPS, several formula optimizations were made improve or eliminate cracks char surface, increase stiffness, rheological adjustments, adhesion improvement different substrates. most promising material developed is composed by cork epoxy resin, together set resistance additives, that makes it possible be spatula, while at same time withstand demanding environmental conditions during atmospheric reentry. In terms properties, has higher conductivity than current P50 TPS commercialized Amorim Cork Composites (ACC), but better behavior when exposed flame conditions. It expected absence improves its structure work included detailed study composition processes required material, which evaluated types characterization tests analysis.
